Rome Fiumicino airport transfers: NCC cars and group coaches
Fiumicino is about 30 km from Rome, 40-60 minutes by road. Chauffeur cars and coaches have separate, clearly defined pickup areas, and a coach cannot enter central Rome without the right ZTL BUS permit.
NCC chauffeurs: Multipiano B for T1, PR7 for T3
In Italy a chauffeur car is an NCC (noleggio con conducente), and at Fiumicino it must be pre-booked; there is no rank pickup. Drivers go through the NCC hub and wait on the ground floor of Multipiano B for Terminal 1 or at PR7 for Terminal 3, with a 40-minute window. That window is why the operator tracks the landing closely: the car should not be sitting there before the bags are out.
Group coaches: T3 Arrivals, stands 20-26
The coach hub is in T3 Arrivals at stands 20-26, by exit 6. Travellers follow the Bus Station signs. Groups landing at T1 walk across to it, so allow time for that on a domestic or Schengen arrival.

T1 or T3: check before you plan the walk
T1 handles domestic and Schengen flights; T3 handles non-Schengen and intercontinental. A group mixing a London flight with a Milan connection may arrive at both. Tell the operator which, and name one gathering point. Where arrivals span both terminals, T3 is the natural choice, because the coach hub is already there.
Rome's ZTL BUS: what a coach can and cannot reach
Tourist buses need ZTL BUS permits. Zones A and C apply at all hours, zone B 05:00-24:00, and since 1 January 2026 the permits are sold online only. Zone C, the historic centre, is closed to coaches except for school trips, hotels with 40 or more rooms, and transport for disabled passengers. If your hotel is smaller than that and inside zone C, plan a set-down outside the zone and a walk in. Colosseum permits include pre-booked parking and boarding areas such as Circo Massimo; Vatican-area access is quota-limited every day of the week.
