Amsterdam airport transfers, chauffeur service and group transport
Amsterdam keeps heavy coaches out of its centre. Inside the S100 ring, anything over 7.5 tonnes needs an exemption, so most group plans start at the ring's edge.
Schiphol: Plaza arrivals, Koepelstraat coaches
Passengers arrive into Schiphol Plaza. Since 2 September 2024 coaches load at the Koepelstraat arrival passage, about five minutes on foot. P41 is a free coach waiting area for up to six hours, with a drivers' room and toilet, about ten minutes' drive from the terminal. A host helps coach drivers and passengers at busy times.
A coach at P41 is ten minutes from the kerb, so call it forward when the group reaches baggage reclaim, not when they walk out. The centre is about 18 km, 20-40 minutes.
The S100 rule and who can be exempted
Since 1 January 2024, coaches over 7.5 tonnes need an exemption to enter the centre inside the S100, which includes Stadhouderskade, Nassaukade and De Ruijterkade. Exemptions go only to groups such as children under 12, elderly passengers, disabled passengers and performing artists. A standard corporate delegation is not on that list.

Edge-of-centre stops and the ten-minute rule
Most coach stops allow ten minutes; De Ruijterkade Oost allows 15. Edge-of-centre stops include Sloterdijk, Zuid, RAI, Amstel and Holendrecht stations. The Anne Frank House coach stop, H16, has been temporarily relocated. Vehicles under 7.5 tonnes fall outside the rule, so ask for the vehicle's weight when a Canal Ring hotel matters.
RAI, Zuidas and venue days
RAI Amsterdam has coach stop H40 nearby, and Zuidas/RAI hotels keep congress shuttles outside the ring. Johan Cruijff ArenA and Ziggo Dome handle match and concert crowds. Keukenhof is 40-60 minutes out; Zaanse Schans 25-40; The Hague 50-75.
Chauffeur service inside the ring
An executive car weighs far less than 7.5 tonnes, so the S100 rule does not touch it. The usual split: principals go by car from Schiphol to a Canal Ring hotel, while the delegation's coach sets down at an edge-of-centre stop and the group finishes on foot or by public transport.
Questions
Can a school group get an S100 exemption?
Groups of children under 12 are among those eligible, so a primary-school party may qualify. Older students are not named among the examples.
Can a coach reach a Canal Ring hotel?
Not a coach over 7.5 tonnes without an exemption. Use a lighter vehicle for the hotel leg, or meet the coach at an edge stop.
Where does the coach wait at Schiphol?
At P41, free for up to six hours and about ten minutes' drive from the Koepelstraat loading point.
How long can a coach stop in the city?
Most stops allow ten minutes; De Ruijterkade Oost allows 15.
