Madrid-Barajas airport transfers for executives and groups

Barajas is about 15 km from central Madrid, 20-45 minutes by road. It has five terminal buildings, a dedicated bus station at T4, and a city that reopened its centre to labelled tourist coaches in 2026.

T1 to T4S: confirm the terminal first

Barajas has T1, T2, T3, T4 and T4S. Aena lists a meeting point at T1, Floor 0, Arrivals Hall; at other terminals the operator names a meeting point in writing. Groups split across T1 and T4 should choose one side and tell everyone. The drive into the centre ranges from 20 to 45 minutes, so an early-morning landing and a rush-hour one can differ considerably.

Coaches: the T4 bus station and T1 bus parking

The T4 bus station has 30 docks and takes both scheduled and private coaches. T1 has its own bus parking area. The dock number comes with the booking, and the group leader should have it before landing.

Madrid's environmental labels and the Distrito Centro

Madrid's ZBE bans vehicles without a DGT environmental label across the whole city. Inside the Distrito Centro ZBEDEP, buses and coaches with CERO, ECO or C labels may enter. Ordinance 2/2026, published in the BOCM on 6 April 2026, opened the Distrito Centro to labelled tourist coaches, so a hotel near Sol or Gran Vía can now be served by a compliant coach.

SEA Madrid runs 272 municipal coach spaces in 5-minute, 15-minute, 2-hour and long-stay categories. A 5-minute space is a set-down, not a check-in; if reception is likely to be slow, the coach moves to a 15-minute or 2-hour space while the group sorts rooms.

IFEMA, next door to the airport

IFEMA Madrid, the main trade fair grounds, is near Barajas, and the Barajas / IFEMA hotel zone serves both. For a fair, a daily shuttle between hotel and halls is often simpler than one airport run. Line 203 Airport Express to Atocha serves T1, T2 and T4 for anyone travelling separately.

Can a coach reach a hotel near Puerta del Sol?

Yes, if it carries a CERO, ECO or C label. Ordinance 2/2026 opened Distrito Centro to labelled tourist coaches.

Does the ZBE apply to a chauffeur car too?

Yes. The citywide ban covers any vehicle without a DGT label, so operators send labelled cars and vans as well as coaches.

Where do private coaches load at T4?

Can we go on to Toledo or Segovia?

Yes. Toledo is about 75 km from Madrid and Segovia about 90 km, each roughly 1-1.25 hours.
