Venice cruise port transfers: Fusina, Marghera and Marittima
Large cruise ships no longer berth in the historic centre. Before booking a Venice transfer, find out whether the ship uses Fusina, Porto Marghera or a small-ship quay at Marittima.
The 25,000 GT line decides the terminal
Under Decree-Law 103/2021, only ships up to 25,000 GT may use Marittima and San Basilio. Larger ships go to Fusina Terminal or the Porto Marghera quays. Fusina has an authorised coach car park, which makes it the simpler coach transfer. Small ships still reach Marittima, where the People Mover links to Tronchetto and Piazzale Roma.

Marco Polo to the berth
Allow 20 to 35 minutes for the 15 to 20 km from Marco Polo to the cruise terminals. Coaches hold in the PBus area north of the terminal building, and because tourist buses are exempt from the 10-minute limit in the airport's controlled traffic zone, the driver can wait for a group landing on several flights.
The ZTL BUS pass applies at the port too
Serving a cruise terminal does not take a coach out of Venice's ZTL BUS regime. A vehicle with no AVM pass cannot go beyond the airport link road and the Mestre bypass, so have the operator confirm the pass for the terminal your ship uses.
A night in Venice before or after the cruise
A pre-cruise night in the historic centre ends the road leg at Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto. Coaches may park at Tronchetto for one hour only, so bags go on by water or porter while the vehicle leaves. A Mestre hotel keeps the whole transfer on the road and the morning run to Fusina or Marghera short.
Disembarkation days work in reverse: book the flight late enough to cover the ship's release, the drive and airport check-in.
